How do I access CSU library resources from off campus?

1527 views   |   81   79   |   Last updated on Aug 15, 2019    off_campus online

The CSU Library’s web page provides access to the Online Catalog and to other electronic resources, which include more than 100,000 e-books and thousands of online journal titles located in nearly 200 databases.  Database access from on campus is by IP recognition – no usernames or passwords are required.  From off-campus, you will be prompted for a username (your first initial and last name in one string) and a password (your CSU ID number).

If distance prevents a student from using library materials on campus, circulating materials from CSU’s print collection may be mailed to off-site students with a return address label. The student is responsible for return postage. Subject to copyright limitations, journal articles or a book chapter available in the CSU Library’s print collection may be scanned and sent to off-site students electronically.

Do I have checkout privileges at other libraries?

1465 views   |   82   79   |   Last updated on Mar 01, 2019    other_libraries checkout

Yes.  CSU is a member of PASCAL, the statewide academic consortium, which provides checkout privileges at most of the college and university libraries in the state.  You may request books directly from other South Carolina academic libraries through the online union catalog at PASCAL Delivers.  Books are delivered to campus five days a week by a statewide courier service and may be picked up at the CSU Library.

You also have walk-in checkout privileges, using your CSU student ID card, at the PASCAL member libraries in the state, including these local academic libraries:  The Citadel, College of Charleston, Trident Technical College, and the Medical University of South Carolina.  You may designate another member library as your pick-up point through the PASCAL Delivers web page.  Articles that are not available through CSU’s online databases cannot be requested through PASCAL Delivers but require the submission of an Interlibrary Loan request form.
